Senior Delivery Manager

Reporting to the CTO, the Delivery Manager is responsible for ensuring the structured and efficient delivery of technology projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

The role focuses on coordinating teams, managing resources, and driving projects to completion using delivery frameworks such as Agile and Scrum. The Senior Delivery Manager ensures progress is visible, risks are managed, and delivery outcomes meet agreed timelines, scope, and quality standards. The Delivery Manager serves as the primary liaison between technical leads, technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment of priorities, visibility of progress, and effective management of risks and dependencies. This role combines hands-on involvement in day-to-day delivery activities with leadership of the development teams. In addition to providing hands-on oversight of delivery activities, the role fosters a culture of continuous improvement, leadership, accountability and operational excellence.

Project Planning and Delivery 

  • Ensure projects align with the RMT’s strategic priorities, regularly evaluating project alignment and outcomes
  • Oversee the end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of software development projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope
  • Ensure projects are delivered according to defined scope, budget, and timelines. Allocate resources and coordinate team efforts to achieve project objectives 
  • Resolve conflicts or roadblocks promptly to maintain project momentum 

Resource Allocation and Capacity Management 

  • Manage resource allocation across multiple deliveries, ensuring optimal utilisation and balancing workloads 
  • Forecast and plan for future resource needs based on project pipeline, adjusting resources as required to meet evolving priorities

Risk and Issue Management 

  • Manage resource allocation across multiple deliveries, ensuring optimal utilisation and balancing workloads

  • Identify, assess, and manage risks and issues across all projects, implementing mitigation strategies and ensuring team members understand and manage risks effectively
  • Maintain a risk register, tracking and reporting on the status of key risks and mitigation activities.

Continuous Improvement 

  • Maintain a risk register, tracking and reporting on the status of key risks and mitigation activities.
  • Develop and implement best practices, standards, and methodologies for digital project delivery to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Encourage innovation and exploration of new tools, technologies, and practices to improve project delivery and support digital transformation
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging feedback and lessons learned from previous projects.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Maintain a risk register, tracking and reporting on the status of key risks and mitigation activities
  • Degree in Project Management, Information Technology, Business, or a related field, or demonstrable relevant experience - relevant professional certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) is desirable
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in managing digital programs or projects
  • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall, and proficiency in using project management tools (e.g., MS Project; Easy Redmine; MS Planner)
  • Demonstrated experience in leading project teams and managing multiple, complex digital projects from inception through to completion
  • Currently hold or eligible to obtain a BASELINE security clearance i.e. hold Australian Citizenship.
